EFFECT OF FORMI ON PERFORMANCE OF POST-WEANING PIGLETS

The trial was conducted on a commercial pig farm in Pampanga, Philippines.

The aim of the trial was to test the natural growth promoter FORMI against a commercial pig diet containing the same dosage of Ca-formate.
Feed and water were available ad libitum.

MATERIAL AND METHODS
955 piglets (aged 32 days) were randomly selected and divided into 2 treatment groups.
Pigs were housed during the trial period of 47 days. Sampling for body mass development
was conducted every fortnight. Performance data were calculated at the end of the trial.

Experimental period: 47 days
Control: 10 kg Calcium formate per t of feed
Trial group: 10 kg FORMI per t of feed

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
During the trial all data have been recorded. In the following table the data are shown (Tab.1):

Table 1: Trial results

As it can be seen from the table, overall performance in the group with FORMI was considerably increased. The
addition of 10 kg FORMI resulted in an increase of almost 10% in daily weight gain, while the feed conversion rate
was improved by more than 8%. FORMI furthermore was able to reduce the mortality during the trial by 62%, thus
ensuring a higher productivity on the pig farm.
